MUSIC

ELLE BANDITA
Elle Bandita is a one-woman-formation, consisting of a girl, a 4track taperecorder and a screaming guitar. The music is kind of a mix between electro, punk and heavy rock with nut-cracking solos. It’s all about the fun, but also contains some messages of social criticism. It all started Spring 2004, when Elle Bandita got her hands on a drumcomputer and a multitracker. She made tons of songs during that period, and collected some of ‘em on a demotape, which was immediately very wanted in the Rotterdam-area. She appeared as an unnamed act at a soon to be legendary Halloween party, with 5 songs and a lot of blood. After that, people wanted her to come out and play, which took a couple of months to organise. But on March 25 2005, the birth of Elle Bandita was a fact. In a club called Nighttown (Rotterdam) she got everybody overwhelmed by her first official gig and kept screaming for more, which they still do.

Elle Bandita grew up in the suburbs of Rotterdam, where she faced a lot of people with homophobic and fascist views. Ofcourse, being a punk, everybody thought she looked like a boy, and people made fun of her because of that. And ofcourse she didn’t care about those stupid fucks, but started a counter-attack. Elle Bandita IS the counter-attack. Revenge is always sweet, but can be fun too. Love her or hate her. Do whatever you like, but don’t bother her with prejudiced speeches, cuz she might use her mic to fill up that little empty hole in yr brains, or, even worse: she could write a song about you...

ROTTERDAM SKA JAZZ FOUNDATION
In an era of overproduced Pop and electronic DJ superstars, The Rotterdam Ska–Jazz Foundation (RSJF) keeps it real. Taking the music of the sixties as a starting point, they start where others have left. But be careful! The Rotterdam Ska–Jazz Foundation is NOT a retro band in any perspective. Armed with drums, bass, guitar, piano, organs, and a wide range of horns, The Rotterdam Ska–Jazz Foundation has been refining their mix of Ska, Jazz, Rock-Steady, Reggae and Soul over the past six years.

The Rotterdam Ska–Jazz Foundation has released an EP single and two full-length studio albums. All released on the German Ska major Grover Records. Their latest album ‘Sunwalk’ is recorded by Max Bolleman in his famous Studio 44 in Monster, and is recently released in the United States by Megalith Records. Furthermore, their music appears on various sampler CD’s and LP’s throughout the world. However, the best way to let the intricate melodies and harmonies of the horns and the steady grooves of the rhythm section seep into your system is to experience this lubricated musical locomotive on stage. Visiting a live show should be of no problem since The Rotterdam Ska–Jazz Foundation hits the road pretty constantly. The Rotterdam Ska–Jazz Foundation played on many Dutch and international festivals and venues, varying from big to small, in many countries, and will most likely play in your neighborhood soon! Don’t worry about a language barrier, let the music do the talking...

FEVERDREAM
Feverdream played an acne of emotion driven noise that gives one the chills. Experimental emo-core of the highest rate. If this band is not invited for the Lowlands festival I'll swallow a Mc Donald's hamburger, and believe me that would be hell for me"
VPRO radio presenter Jaap Boots about their gig in his program

Feverdream has been around since 1997. Working their way up with a DIY mentality they managed to release their debut in 1998 called “Pretend That It's Forever”. Growing more confident and living life as a band, Feverdream's music grew and got even intenser. Now you could compair Feverdream's style of music with the American tradition of bands from several labels, such as Touch & Go, Trance Syndicate en Kill Rock Stars. So, do not expect long-winded subtlety but straight forward progression.
Transformed Dreams released the next record that was recorded with Zlaya Hadzic, producer of the fishtank records with bands such as Sonic Youth, Songs Ohia, Karate, The Ex, No means No. The Sky Is Full Of It, expressed Feverdream as they are Live: raucous, exciting, surprising, thrilling, pronounced, unashamed, intense and still sensitive. A musician/producer match was made.

After 2 years of extensive touring, they started to work on a new record and worked intensively on it for a year. The result, Future Directions, digges in deeper and shows the true heart of the songs. Besides passion, Feverdream also possesses something which is very uncommon in pop music: Obsession. With Future Directions Feverdream shows that they are in control of sound and atmosphere more than ever. The songs are presented with inevitability, without any compromises. They are not just performed, but executed, as directly as possible and straight from the heart. Filled with restlessness, without much ceremony, Feverdream goes straight to the point. The throbbing, driving sound of the bass and the rushing, swinging drumplay give the songs the energy and drive. This is the foundation for a hectic staccato guitar, which hides some sort of hidden dreamlike melodies. These melodies give the songs also a pop-flow. Displeasure, expressed with aggression, is alternated with tranquilized sensitivity. Provoked tension followed by release. The vocals are expressed with power and intensity, sometimes held back with suspension and tension and then brought with passion and full devotion. But though, sometimes this driving train slows down to give space for reflective, stirring (raucous) popmusic.
